| Frequency vs. Magnitude
Most of us could not tie up our sneakers and run
a marathon today. If we did that, we would probably fail to
complete the race. Even if we were to finish, we would probably
do serious physical harm to our bodies. Why is that?
Simple. We didn't practice. If we
knew a year in advance that we were going to be running a
marathon, we would train and condition ourselves so that we
could finish the race without getting hurt.
This battle is called frequency
and magnitude and the marathon makes it clear for us. If we want
to achieve a great result, we must practice with frequency and
condition ourselves properly. Without this frequency, we will
suffer effects of great magnitude.
Emotion
vs. Intelligence
Imagine yourself getting into an argument with
someone you care about. How many of us have said something in
the heat of that situation that we later regret?
We've all been there. We've all
said some stupid, regrettable things in our lives. This happens
because these situations (conflict, love....etc.) bring our
emotional levels up. The result is that our intelligence goes
down.
You can win this battle by
practicing for these situations. Role play getting rejected
until you get to the point that you no longer take it
personally. Use our special two step strategy to handle conflict
in a cool-headed way. ( 1. Acknowledge and 2. Ask A Question)
