Communication PowerTools
We used the ColorBlind activity to discover several critical points about
our communication skills. Leaders should do their best to practice the
following:
Be Specific
Never assume that people know what you're talking about. Give details to
be sure.
Orientation
Get everyone on the same page by sharing your orientation. The same
problem looks different to everyone. Share perspectives and do your best
to see things form other angles.
Imagery
Create a picture in peoples minds that illustrates your point.
Paraphrase
When you're the listener, repeat what you've heard back to the speaker.
Let them know you were listening.
Review And Ask Questions
Before making any decisions, review the important information and ask
questions to make sure everything is understood.
