The GOAPE System for
Goal Setting
Choose a specific short-term goal and apply the power of the GOAPE system.
GOAPE has five easy to follow steps:
- Goal - set a
short-term goal that is specific, measurable and time-oriented.
- Obstacles - plan for
potential setbacks. Identify anything that could stop you from achieving
your goal. Focus on the things about yourself that could impede you
(lack of motivation, procrastination, low self esteem...etc).
- Assistance -
Identify resources that could help you reach your goal. Great leaders
know that they can't do it by themselves. Find people and resources that
can help you execute your idea.
- Plan
- Create a
timeline for your goal. Start at the deadline and work backwards toward
today.
- Everyday -
Break it down into simple steps. What can you do everyday that moves you
towards your goal
