Key
Points to Building a Tower
- Did you
listen to multiple perspectives?
- Did you
use your team talents (one hand per person) to your benefit?
- Did you
build till you fell?
- Did your
team feel supported by you and you by them?
Passions on
Paper
For you to reach the passion you desire, the following ideas
will come into play.
-
Relationships- building
relationships with people who can expand your connectedness
and information is critical to your success. Unlike the
American myth of “doing it on your own”, we are creatures of
connection and do our very best supported by those who care
and are willing to walk the journey with us.
-
Knowledge- being able to acquire
knowledge about your passion has never been more available
than now. Imagine reading a book or article a month for five
years. That would be 60 pieces of information to help you
clarify what your passion is about and how to engage it.
Most people in this world haven’t read 60 books about one
topic. You would be more knowledgeable than most of the
professionals in your field. What a great way to move into
what you love.
-
Teach-ability- while knowledge can
increase what you know, it can’t prepare your heart for
engaging the people you will be working with. Learn active
listening and how to be selfless in your work habits,
finding ways to serve and all the while, asking questions
for clarity and understanding.
-
Persistence- Until you say that
you’re finished, there is always opportunity. Doors to knock
on and relationships to build. Just like my friend, Will,
who started out by cleaning windows and emptying garbage
cans at the recording studio, before he got his foot in the
door. There is always a way to persist in what we love.
Every “beep” on the maze of life is a learning opportunity
to make a better decision next time. Every tower built till
it falls teaches us to persist more expertly the next time.
So Gear Up And Go For It.
